6th Grade Course Description: 

Welcome to Early Cultures! This course covers a large span of history as we explore cultures from 9000 BCE to the early 1600s. We will examine the world’s first civilizations, ancient Greece, ancient Rome, Chinese culture, the Middle Ages, and even the Renaissance! Please read through school policies and be prepared for class each day. I look forward to a fantastic year together!

7th Grade Course Description:

Welcome to Contemporary Cultures! This course is a continuation of topics discussed in sixth grade, and will explore cultures and geography in civilizations from the 1600s to the present. We will examine the globalization of ideas, technology, and beliefs, as we delve deeper into the evolution of economics and government. Many of our discussions will center around the following ideas: limited authority, natural rights, experimentalism, and the cause of modern day issues.

8th Grade Course Description:

Eighth grade Social Studies explores United States history through the eyes of South Carolina. Throughout this course we will talk about many important events in United States history with an emphasis on those events in South Carolina. We will first learn about the state of South Carolina such as the regions and leaders. Over the course of the class we will learn about Native Americans,colonization, the American Revolution, the Constitution, the Civil War and Reconstruction, current events, and much more!

As we continue our exploration of River Valley Civilizations, we are now studying Ancient Egypt! Please remind your student to review his/her notes each night and of the notebook/agenda checks on Fridays!
